A Klaviyo alternative for businesses that run on leads.

Klaviyo is built around ecommerce data: catalogs, carts and orders. If your business runs on leads, quotes and appointments instead, Sequence fits better. Your agent sets up the email and text follow-up, and Sequence connects to the CRMs service businesses use.

You type
When a quote request comes in from the website, text the customer that we got it, email the details an hour later, and stop if they book.

What your agent does

  1. Step 1

    create_sequence

    Starts on a lead, not an order

    Website forms arrive as lead.created events. ServiceTitan and Pipedrive add leads, deals and appointments.

    Excerpt of the call

    {
      "name": "Quote request",
      "trigger_type": "event",
      "trigger_event_name": "lead.created",
      "exit_events": [
        {
          "event": "appointment.scheduled"
        }
      ]
    }
  2. Step 2

    add_step

    Text first, email after

    A text right away for opted-in contacts, then an email an hour later. Steps without consent are skipped, not stalled.

  3. Step 3

    create_audience

    Segments without a rule builder

    Describe who you mean, such as members whose last purchase was over a year ago, and your agent writes the conditions.

  4. Step 4

    connect_integration

    Reads your CRM

    ServiceTitan or Pipedrive, read-only, so customers and job events arrive without exports.

Sequence and Klaviyo, side by side.

Klaviyo facts come from Klaviyo's own pricing pages and documentation, checked on October 21, 2026. Sequence publishes this page; follow each source link to confirm what applies to your plan and country.

  • Pricing

    Klaviyo
    By active profiles. Free covers 250 profiles, 500 emails and $5 of mobile messages; the Email plan starts at $20 a month for 251 to 500 profiles. Source
    Sequence
    Priced per brand, not per contact. Pro is $49 a month for 3 brands, 30,000 emails and 500 texts; Scale is $199 for 10 brands. Free covers 1 brand and 3,000 emails.
  • SMS

    Klaviyo
    Included on every plan as credits or spend. Available in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK and much of Europe, with Mexico at international rates. Source
    Sequence
    Included on Pro and Scale in the same sequence as email. US only, after a business registration your agent can start; carrier fees are passed through at cost.
  • Building

    Klaviyo
    Flows built step by step, with drag-and-drop email content. Source
    Sequence
    No editor or workflow canvas. Your agent writes templates and builds sequences through the MCP server, and you review previews and test sends.
  • AI and agents

    Klaviyo
    An official MCP server, remote or local, with tools that create flows and templates and create and send campaigns. Source
    Sequence
    Hosted MCP server whose tools cover brands, domains, contacts, audiences, templates, sequences, broadcasts, texting, social posts and reports. Connecting a social account needs a person to approve the sign-in.
  • Data it is built on

    Klaviyo
    Ecommerce: store integrations such as Shopify, product catalogs and order events. Source
    Sequence
    Leads and service work: website form capture, Zapier, ServiceTitan, Pipedrive, your own events and weather alerts.

Why service businesses look past Klaviyo

Klaviyo's best features assume a store: browse abandonment, product recommendations, catalog blocks. A roofer, a clinic or an agency has none of that. Their follow-up starts from a form fill, a quote, a booking or a finished job.

Sequence starts from those events. Its connectors read ServiceTitan and Pipedrive, its capture script turns website forms into leads, and your agent decides which sequence each event starts.

Both have an MCP server; the difference is the rest

Klaviyo's official MCP server lets an agent create and send campaigns inside Klaviyo, alongside its editors and flow builder. Sequence has no editor or builder at all: the agent does the setup, and nearly everything Sequence can do is a tool. Connecting a social account is the exception; a person approves that sign-in. Choose by where your data lives and how you want to work, not by whether an agent can connect.

Stay with Klaviyo if

You run an online store and depend on catalog data, abandoned-cart and browse flows, or SMS outside the US. Sequence suits lead-driven and service businesses, and agencies running several of them.

Questions

Does Sequence integrate with Shopify?

Not directly. A store can send order events through Zapier or the API, but Sequence is built for lead and service businesses rather than catalog-driven ecommerce.

Is SMS available outside the US?

No. Sequence texting is US-only.

Can my agent use both?

Yes. Both offer MCP servers; an agent can connect to each.

How is pricing different?

Klaviyo prices by active profiles. Sequence prices by brand, with monthly email and text allowances.

Ask your agent. Sequence sends.

Start free with one brand and 3,000 emails a month. No card needed.
